SQL Server fails to start

Issue

In some cases, the SQL Server fails to start when the computer starts. This issue might be caused by the SQL Server attempting to start before prerequisite conditions are met.

Workaround

Perform one of the following tasks:

  • Run services.msc, right-click the SQL Server service, click Properties > General, and set the Startup type to Automatic (Delayed Start).
  • Start the SQL Server service manually.

Note: You can also set the recovery options for the SQL Server service at Properties > Recovery to automatically restart the service if it fails.
