How to manually add a FLIR camera to Symphony

FLIR cameras have three main methods of communication: the Nexus SDK, the Nexus CGI, and ONVIF.

You can use automatic discovery for a FLIR camera if both the FLIR Nexus SDK and the FLIR Nexus CGI are enabled on the FLIR camera.

To use the FLIR Nexus SDK:

  1. In the FLIR camera interface, navigate to the Maintenance page.
  2. Click Sensor > Communications > Networking.
  3. Set the Enabled field to Yes.
  4. In the TCP Port field, set the TCP port or use the default port.
  5. Click Save.
  6. If required, restart the camera server by clicking the green button twice: once to stop the server and once to restart the server.
  7. In the Symphony server configuration interface, manually add the camera using the format ip_address:tcp_port and select FLIR as the camera driver.

To use the FLIR Nexus CGI:

  1. In the FLIR interface, navigate to the Maintenance page.
  2. Click Sensor > Communications > VMS Remote > Interface 0.
  3. Set the Enabled field to Yes.
  4. In the Port field, set the port or use the default port.
  5. Click Save.
  6. If required, restart the camera server by clicking the green button twice: once to stop the server and once to restart the server.
  7. In the Symphony server configuration interface, manually add the camera using the format ip_address:port and select FLIR as the camera driver.

To use ONVIF:

  1. In the FLIR interface, navigate to the Maintenance page.
  2. Click Sensor > Communications > VMS Remote > Interface 1.
  3. Set the Enabled field to Yes.
  4. In the Port field, set the port or use the default port.
  5. Click Save.
  6. If required, restart the camera server by clicking the green button twice: once to stop the server and once to restart the server.
  7. In the Symphony server configuration interface, manually add the camera using the format ip_address:port and select ONVIF as the camera driver.
